Nonpartisan campaign urges all Americans to stand up for liberty, accountability, and the rule of law
The Washington County Democratic Party (WCDP) is proud to announce the launch of a new initiative this Independence Day: Constitution Defenders. This campaign is a call to action for citizens of all political backgrounds who believe in the foundational principles of American democracy. The effort includes a public petition and participation in the Jonesborough 4th of July Parade.
“This isn’t about left or right,” said Sylvain Bruni, WCDP Chair. “It’s about right and wrong. When the Constitution is under threat, from those who would use it for personal power rather than principled government, every American has a duty to speak up.”
The Constitution Defenders petition invites Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and unaffiliated voters to reaffirm their commitment to liberty, accountability, and the rule of law. It warns of recent actions at the highest levels of government that sidestep constitutional limits, undermine individual rights, and erode public trust in democratic institutions. The initiative stresses that these are not theoretical issues; they directly affect Tennesseans’ lives and freedoms.
As part of the campaign, WCDP members and allies will march in the Jonesborough 4th of July Parade, proudly carrying the “Constitution Defenders” banner. The event will also feature public outreach and promotion of the petition in local newspapers and on social media.
This Independence Day, the Washington County Democratic Party invites all members of the community, regardless of party affiliation, to take a stand for the values that unite us as Americans and to sign the petition at https://wctndp.org/ConstitutionDefenders.
