Monday, January 29, 2018, the Washington County Democratic Party will host a Press Conference at the Democrat Resource Center (2700 S. Roan St., Suite 440 in Johnson City, Tennessee) at noon to discuss the issues people in Washington County, Tennessee face and how our state government needs to address them.
Speakers will include the Chair of the Washington County Democratic Party, Kate Craig, the Vice Chair of the Washington County Democratic Party, Sydney Crowder, and other members of the community. We want to know:
• How the state will address funding for our public schools and preparing students for their futures with access to technical programs, 2-year degree programs, and 4-year degree programs;
• What are the state’s plan to address Tennesseans who so desperately need Medicaid expanded without a work mandate;
• What economic plans are being made to not only invest in corporations, but the people who work for these corporations and the communities who invest in them.
Governor Bill Haslam will deliver his final State of the State address at 6 PM to discuss his final priorities, which will include an additional $30 Million to address the opioid epidemic. Those of us in Washington County need Governor Haslam, and our next governor, to understand that the needs of everyone in Washington County are a priority and that the Washington County Democratic Party will continue giving everyone a voice until viable, community based solutions are enacted.
