Statement on the Federal Indictment of Former President Trump

The Washington County Democratic Party believes in the fundamental American principle of equal justice for all: No individual is above the law, regardless of their political affiliation or position of power. We view the indictment of former President Trump as a significant step towards accountability. Those who betray the public trust must be held responsible for their actions. Justice will be rendered independently and impartially, with due process for all defendants. In the meantime, the Democratic Party will continue to fight against the former president’s perilous rhetoric. He remains a dangerous presidential candidate, bent on undermining democracy for his personal gain and that of a power-hungry GOP increasingly beholden to its most right-wing extreme fringes.
