Local Democrats thank President Biden for his transformative presidency
Today, the Washington County Democratic Party (WCDP) acknowledges President Joseph R. Biden’s decision not to seek re-election in the upcoming presidential race in November of 2024, thanks him for his leadership which has resulted in transformational change in the United States, and collectively endorses Kamala Harris for President.
Like many Democrats across the nation, WCDP was saddened by President Biden’s announcement. Yet, we remain proud of the leadership and dedication he has exhibited over the past three and a half years. In 2020, as the nation faced unprecedented challenges, President Biden was the dedicated leader we needed to defeat Donald Trump and restore hope in America. His victory was a pivotal moment in history, and every day since, he has delivered on his promise to build back better, making our nation stronger. As we look to the future, the Washington County Democratic Party is committed to protecting President Biden’s legacy and continuing the fight to improve the lives of all Americans. We recognize the historic achievements made under his administration and vow to build upon them: President Biden’s administration rescued the economy, led us out of the pandemic, made critical infrastructure investments, protected LGBTQ+ and interracial marriages, delivered affordable health care to millions of Americans, lowered the costs of prescription drugs for seniors, provided care to a million veterans exposed to toxic substances, invested in American manufacturing, strengthened our defense and diplomatic apparatus around the world, and protected future generations with climate legislation and the first gun safety law in three decades.
At this critical juncture, WCDP believes we must come together as a party. Our united goal is clear: to ensure that Donald Trump does not return to the White House. It is our collective responsibility to carry forward the mission President Biden began and to finish the job of creating a more just, equitable, and prosperous America.
Therefore, WCDP proudly announces our unwavering support for Vice President Kamala Harris as she bids for the presidency. Vice President Harris has consistently demonstrated her dedication to the American people. Her leadership, vision, and experience give us confidence in her ability to continue the progress made by the Biden administration and to continue to lead our nation.
