Parade appearance draws lots of cheers, 100+ petition signers in first 24 hours, and strong bipartisan interest
The Washington County Democratic Party (WCDP) is celebrating the overwhelming success of its Constitution Defenders initiative, launched during this year’s Jonesborough Days 4th of July Parade. The effort drew a parade contingent of 30 community members, received widespread cheers from parade-goers, and collected more than 100 petition signatures in the first 24 hours.
Marching under the banner “Constitution Defenders,” WCDP members and supporters highlighted a message that resonated deeply across political lines, calling for unity around the shared American values of liberty, accountability, and the rule of law.
“This incredible response proves what we’ve known all along,” said Sylvain Bruni, WCDP Chair. “People are ready to cross partisan divides and stand together for the Constitution. Our rights and freedoms don’t belong to one party; they belong to all of us, and we need to protect them, together.”
Throughout the parade route, the Constitution Defenders contingent was met with enthusiastic applause and positive reactions from a wide cross-section of the community. Many attendees expressed appreciation for the nonpartisan message and quickly signed on to the initiative’s petition, which calls on public officials to uphold their constitutional oaths without exception.
The Washington County Democratic Party invites anyone who believes in the importance of democracy, freedom, and accountability, regardless of political affiliation, to join the growing movement, sign the petition, and learn more at https://wctndp.org/ConstitutionDefenders.
