Washington County Democratic Party calls on qualified Democrats to step forward in service to their city and community.
Following Mayor Hunter’s resignation and the City’s formal announcement of its process to fill the resulting vacancy, the Washington County Democratic Party (WCDP) is calling on local Democrats with a strong sense of civic duty, integrity, and community engagement to apply for the open seat on the Johnson City Board of Commissioners.
“Our city deserves leaders who care deeply about Johnson City’s people and future,” said Kathy Carr, First Vice Chair of the Washington County Democratic Party. “This is an opportunity for those who believe in good governance, transparency, and long-term progress to contribute directly to the work of building a thriving, equitable, and forward-looking Johnson City.”
WCDP believes that broad participation in this process is key to ensuring a representative and accountable government. The City Commission is a nonpartisan body, but Democratic values—community, fairness, inclusion, and opportunity—are vital to the city’s success. WCDP encourages all qualified Democrats to consider applying and bringing their professional and community experience to the table.
The City is accepting letters of interest and resumes from qualified Johnson City voters through noon on Friday, October 10. Applications may be emailed to commission@johnsoncitytn.org or delivered to the Municipal and Safety Building (601 E. Main St.).
Democrats interested in applying may indicate so and request a letter of support from the Washington County Democratic Party at https://wctndp.org/JCC25-LOS. This is a critical opportunity to serve our community and shape Johnson City’s future. Let’s make sure every voice is represented in our city government.
