Michelle Treece to Deliver the Keynote Address at the Washington County Democratic Party’s 2023 State of Franklin Dinner

The event will be held on August 26th at the Carnegie Hotel in Johnson City

The Washington County Democratic Party (WCDP) is excited to announce that Michelle Treece, former Johnson City School teacher and School Board member, will deliver the keynote address at the annual State of Franklin Dinner. The gala event will be held on Saturday, August 26, starting at 6 pm at the Carnegie Hotel in downtown Johnson City.

“We are honored to welcome Michelle Treece to the State of Franklin Dinner,” said Sylvain Bruni, WCDP Chair. “Her dedication to education and students in our region, her integrity and hard work for social justice, and her commitment to inclusion and uplifting all members of our community are exemplary.”

The State of Franklin Dinner is the Democratic Party’s premier event in northeast Tennessee and features speakers from our community, live music, a silent auction, and the presentation of the Nancy Fischman Leadership Award.

About Michelle Treece: Michelle Treece is a retired teacher from Johnson City Schools and a former member of the Johnson City Board of Education. She retired with almost 32 years of career work in education, part of that work being at ETSU in residential life and the remaining time with Johnson City Schools. Michelle is a “triple alumnus” from ETSU. Her degrees include a BS in Biology, an M.Ed. in school counseling, and an Ed.S. in School Administration. Michelle is a member of the advisory boards for McKinney Center in Jonesborough, Washington County/Johnson City NAACP, Northeast State Community College Inclusive Excellence Advisory Council, and most recently a member of the Board of Directors for the Children’s Advocacy Center – 1st District. Michelle currently works as an adjunct with ETSU as a field supervisor for teacher candidates during their residency. She also spends much of her time working to promote social justice and community involvement to make our community a more inviting and welcoming community for all its citizens. She is the mother of two teenage sons, Kevin and Kieran. They also have a rescue lab mix named Bailey. “It’s a busy retirement, but each day is worth it!”
