(Johnson City, Tenn.) – The Washington County Democratic Party (WCDP) will hold a Forum on Protecting Workers and Their Rights on Tuesday, October 10th, 2023 starting at 6:30 pm at the Carver Park Recreation Center. This is the seventh edition in a year-long series of public, community-centered, educational forums organized by WCDP with non-partisan experts. The upcoming forum will feature three local union leaders:

Mr. Kenneth Osborne
President
Upper East Tennessee Central Labor Council

Mr. Daniel Belcher
Vice President, Night Shift
International Guards Union of America, Local #145

Mr. Dennis Prater
Vice President
United Campus Workers – ETSU Chapter

“As the UAW autoworkers’ strike around the country is entering its fourth week, it is critical for our community to understand what unions are, what they fight for, and how they exist in our region, at the hyper-local level,” said Sylvain Bruni, WCDP Chair. “We are delighted that three leaders from local unions, representing different professions, will join us and provide insights on their work to protect workers and their rights. We have seen it with the WGA strike in Hollywood: The work of unions is essential and can yield positive results for entire industries.”

RSVP for the Forum is recommended at https://wctndp.org/WorkersRightsForum. The Forum will be simultaneously streamlined on the WCDP Facebook page at https://facebook.com/wctndp.
